Captain Of Industry Update 4.2: Modular Ramps & COI Hub

Captain Of Industry Update 4.2: Modular Ramps & COI Hub

By BestSTEMGames Team|Jul 21, 2026|5 min read

The latest major patch for Captain Of Industry has arrived, bringing a suite of new features, performance optimizations, and quality-of-life improvements. Update 4.2 focuses heavily on expanding the game's logistics and modding capabilities, while also delivering significant graphical and technical upgrades.

COI Hub Integration and Mod Manager

A central feature of this update is the full integration of the COI Hub directly into the game client. Players can now browse, download, and install mods without ever leaving the game. The new Mod Manager streamlines the process of finding and updating community-created content. Similarly, maps and blueprints from the Hub can be accessed and managed in-game through dedicated browsers. Notably, these features currently require no account creation or login, lowering the barrier for all players.

Modular Ramps and Train Overhaul

Update 4.2 introduces a new modular ramp system built with a place-and-drag tool. These ramps can be constructed at any length and at heights of one or two tiles. Unlike bridges, all vehicles can traverse over modular ramps, while smaller vehicles can pass underneath them. The original ramp pieces have been marked as obsolete.

Train logistics receive a substantial overhaul with several new features:

  • New Wagons: T1 and T2 universal wagons can now carry any product type (unit, loose, or fluid) at 75% of a dedicated wagon's capacity.
  • New Track Pieces: Corner ramps, grade transitions, and 2-tile S-bends have been added to the track building menu.
  • Waypoint Restrictions: Waypoints can now be configured with allow and deny rules to restrict which trains may path to or through them, including filtering by wagon product type.
  • Autonomous Switchbacks: Trains can now perform switchbacks on bidirectional tracks, navigating to a dead end, stopping, and reversing back out.
  • New Tutorials: A series of train network tutorials have been added, covering networks, linked storages, advanced line rules, station groups, and troubleshooting.

Performance and Graphics Upgrades

A new product renderer has been implemented, making product rendering 10 to 20 times faster. This drastically reduces draw calls and memory usage. A benchmark map saw frame rates jump from 23 to 78 FPS, while real saves are reporting solid 20-50% FPS gains. Terrain physics processing for avalanches and large-scale mining has been optimized, achieving up to 9x faster performance in heavy scenarios. Train pathfinding goal selection at stations has also been improved, making it more than 2x faster on saves with many trains.

All 100+ product 3D models have been remade with better graphics. Construction previews and blueprint graphics have been reworked with new shaders, blueprint grid lines, and improved depth perception. The rendering engine has been upgraded to Unity 6.3.19, which may require modders to update their projects.

Quality-of-Life Improvements

Several interface and gameplay enhancements have been made:

  • Inspector windows now remember their positions.
  • Office and Captain's Office bonuses now activate and deactivate with a delay via a charge system, preventing rapid on/off toggling.
  • A detailed per-recipe breakdown has been added to the product statistics window, showing production and consumption by individual machine recipe with stacked bar charts and share percentages.
  • Per-minute toggles have been added to the Maintenance, Food, and Fuel statistics tabs.
  • Drag placement now works with surfaces and decals, with a new accessibility option to require holding a key for drag-placing.
  • Bridge building now includes height lines and a height-delta readout for better depth perception, along with faster validity arrows and previews.
  • Product search now covers more buildings, including the Food Market, Hospital, Captain's Office, Research Lab, Shipyard, Sorter, Cargo Depot, and train station modules.
  • Construction and deconstruction now obey the target zone's vehicle bans instead of the construction zone's.
  • The Shipyard now shows its storage buffers for non-empty cargo.
  • Settlement waste, biomass, and recyclables module inspectors now show the amount collected in the last month.
  • The rocket launch pad inspector now shows its logistics zone.
  • Vehicles now show their unreachable destination even when no specific entities are targeted.
  • Loading progress is now shown in the Windows taskbar, with a blink on completion.
  • The tutorial window has been improved with a per-message section navigation list, a maximize button, and improved styling.

Bug Fixes

This update addresses numerous bugs, including:

  • Fixed notifications lingering for destroyed entities.
  • Fixed an error when panning the camera with the tower area overlay open.
  • Fixed a train pathfinding requeue bug that could stall pathfinding on very large networks.
  • Fixed deleted stations still showing lines when a train reported an unreachable destination.
  • Fixed tenders triggering their own refueling events; they are now grouped with their locomotive.
  • Fixed train network loading jobs completing all alignments even when enough was already loaded.
  • Fixed a "last leg" issue where a busy train's path-improvement tasks prevented it from ignoring critical sections right before a station.
  • Fixed air friction overflow on very long trains (50+ wagons).
  • Fixed products being rendered at wrong positions on reversed train cars.
  • Fixed product source statistics losing precision when small quantities were consumed from large product pools.
  • Fixed Fix32 overflow in settlement internet provider and transformer calculations.
  • Fixed vehicles using stale height after the terrain changed beneath them from mining, dumping, or flooding.
  • Fixed train track construction and Unity cost issues, including double-counted deconstruction materials and wrong Unity cost.
  • Fixed being unable to continue building from certain track pieces.
