The team behind shapez 2 has shared new details about puzzlez, a standalone puzzle game set in the shapez world. Announced on 7 September 2026, it began as a shapez 2 DLC and grew into its own game, an evolution of the puzzle DLC for the original shapez. It will launch with more than 75 official puzzles, and players can make and share their own. There is no release date yet.

One Challenge per Level

Instead of sprawling megafactories, each level gives players a single challenge on a smaller, unique playing field, using buildings from shapez 2. The Steam page describes handcrafted puzzles about building shapes in compact 3D spaces, many with more than one solution.

Tools for Puzzle Designers

A devlog from 2 October 2026 shows how much control puzzle makers will get:

  • Layer limits: turn off up to two of the three building layers
  • Welding: fix buildings and blocks in place so players can't move or remove them
  • Building restrictions: forbid specific buildings in a level
  • Custom playing fields: any size, with gaps and floating islands
  • Solve to share: designers must solve their own puzzle before sharing it, so impossible puzzles can't be published

Two new buildings join the set. Small and Large Ramps move shapes one or two layers up or down but take up three or five squares, so they need more planning than lifts. Belt Portals send shapes through buildings, and both Portals and Launchers now have unlimited range. The team stresses that everything shown is still a work in progress.

puzzlez is developed by tobspr Games and published with Doyoyo Games, and it can already be wishlisted on Steam.
