Satisfactory is heading to the tabletop. The crowdfunding campaign for Satisfactory: The Board Game went live on Gamefound on October 13, and Coffee Stain Studios marked the launch with a Steam post sharing the new trailer and a look behind the scenes of its development. Copenhagen studio MOOD Publishing designed and produced the board game in collaboration with Coffee Stain.
How the Board Game Plays
Satisfactory: The Board Game is a competitive sandbox game for one to four players, who can play solo or with friends. Players extract resources on the planet MASSAGE-2(A-B)b and race to complete the Space Elevator, and the winner earns the title of FICSIT Employee of the Month. The official announcement describes three core parts of play:
- World exploration: discovering resource locations to decide where to build
- Factory optimization: building and expanding production lines with machines and conveyor belts while balancing energy production
- Technology advancements: completing projects and milestones to unlock new technologies

Shaped With the Community
According to Coffee Stain, MOOD wanted to shape the board game around the Satisfactory community from the start. Four community content creators, Bitz, Gaming with Doc, TotalXclipse and Satisfactory News, visited the MOOD Publishing studio to play the first manufactured sample of the preview, and MOOD will take their feedback into account as it shapes the game.
A community challenge also ran alongside the launch until October 21, asking players to build the best Screw Factory in Grass Fields. Each of the three winners will have their build featured as a Blueprint card in the board game with their name credited, along with a unique Reddit flair and a custom Coffee Cup game piece made by Kathy Millatt Modeling. Community members -Doug, nova_tech, SpaceGameDev and Temporal_Illusion organized the challenge.

From Cardboard Prototype to Board Game
The post also shared photos of early prototypes. Before the artwork and polish came in, the game used paper pieces, rough ideas and placeholders, including Valheim standees in place of the creatures. MOOD tested, changed, scrapped and reworked mechanics along the way to capture what makes Satisfactory work as a tabletop game.

Core Values Expansion on the Way
The board game news follows the late September announcement of Core Values, the first paid DLC for the Satisfactory video game. Coffee Stain describes it as a major expansion that takes Pioneers into the crust of MASSAGE-2(A-B)b, where they develop an underground factory network with new resources, flora, fauna, production lines and buildings. Core Values does not have a release date yet.
