Building a tidy and functional factory in Shapez 2 can be challenging for newcomers. This guide provides essential tips to prevent common issues and keep production lines running smoothly.
Effective Blueprints
Instead of creating custom setups for every task, use platform blueprints that handle one specific action. Create blueprints for rotating shapes, cutting quadrants, moving shapes up a level, or painting them. Connect these blueprints in the desired order rather than reinventing the wheel for each task. This approach saves time and reduces troubleshooting.
Understanding Throughput
Buildings
When selecting a building, an info box displays how many of that building are needed to process a full belt. Measuring in full belts simplifies calculations. If you need different numbers of buildings with varying processing speeds, merge their outputs into one belt before splitting again.

Space Belts
Stick to a full Space Belt by default to know exactly how many platforms are needed. One Space Belt supplies up to 4 platforms using all layers. You will need 3 asteroid miners per Space Belt layer for a total of 12. Check Space Belt flow to identify production issues; if flow is not smooth, something is backing up further down the line.
Troubleshooting Tips
Incorrect Shape
If the end product shape is wrong, work backwards from the end product to find the issue. Fix the problem at its source, then press [I] to clear belts for a clean slate.
Building Mistakes
Use copy and paste tools (Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V) to avoid small placement errors. If a mistake occurs, undo it with Ctrl+Z.

Mixing Items on Belts
Avoid mixing shapes on a single belt unless using wires. Sorting options are unlocked later, and mixed belts can cause jams. Use Space Belt layers to transport different shapes without mixing them.
These practical steps help maintain a clean and efficient factory, preventing headaches as you expand your production lines.
