The physics-based destruction game Teardown has officially launched its long-awaited multiplayer update. This major expansion allows players to team up with friends or compete against others, fundamentally changing the game's dynamic.
Players can now experience the entire base campaign in cooperative play with up to 12 participants. This feature allows groups to strategize and execute complex demolition plans together, adding a new layer of teamwork to the game's core objectives.
Beyond co-op, the update introduces several dedicated multiplayer game modes. These include classic competitive formats such as Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, and Capture the Flag. A new mode called Treasure Thieves offers a unique objective-based experience. Two new maps, Splitfield Estate and Cratertown, have been added specifically for these multiplayer activities.
The update also fully integrates the game's robust modding community into the multiplayer framework. A growing library of community-created mods, including maps, vehicles, tools, and asset packs, is now multiplayer-ready. This integration significantly expands the potential for custom gameplay experiences, allowing players to mix and match content to create thousands of unique scenarios.
The Sandbox mode, a staple of Teardown, now supports multiplayer chaos, enabling groups to experiment with the game's physics engine without constraints. Developers have indicated that this multiplayer launch is just the beginning, with more content already in development. A competitive racing mode is confirmed to be among the future additions.
This update transforms Teardown from a primarily solo experience into a social playground for creative destruction. It leverages the game's existing systems to foster collaboration, competition, and community-driven content creation on a much larger scale.
