The Farmer Was Replaced comes to iOS and Android on November 2, the same day its first DLC, The Miner Was Replaced, launches on Steam. The programming game has players write code in a simple Python-like language to control a drone and automate a farm. The mobile port comes from the studio Ateo.
Programming on a Phone
The mobile version brings the game to phones and tablets. Players write code, automate the farm, unlock new functions and solve the same programming challenges as on PC. In the Steam announcement, the developer admitted that programming on mobile "sounds weird", but said Ateo had put a huge amount of work into making coding on mobile feel intuitive, and that it works surprisingly well.
The Miner Was Replaced DLC is included in the mobile version. Pre-orders are open now through Ateo's site, which links to the App Store and Google Play.

The Miner Was Replaced
The DLC takes the drone underground. Instead of growing and harvesting crops, players dig through the world, collect new resources and solve new programming challenges. It adds a new section to the unlock tree, along with:
- Eight new underground resources, including coal, quartz, mushrooms and dynamite
- Digging up ancient ruins without damaging them
- Sorting colorful mushrooms and growing rice on clay
- A Minesweeper-inspired challenge that has to be solved without blowing up the mining drone

The DLC keeps the same Python-like language and offers challenges for every skill level, from programming novices to experienced coders. Developer Timon Herzog built it with help from two developers, Nils and Adrian, who work at the same co-working space.
