The latest update for Universe Sandbox introduces significant atmospheric and visual enhancements. Update 36.2, titled "Winds of Change," brings simulated geostrophic winds that now sweep gases across planetary atmospheres. Players can customize the wind speed under the Surface > Atmosphere > Geostrophic Wind Speed menu.
Selection outlines have been improved to conform to the unique on-screen shape of each object, replacing the previous circular indicators. When multiple objects are selected, their outlines blend together seamlessly. The update also allows users to adjust object compositions by material percentage, enabling quick recreation of Earth or Titan's atmosphere.
A new Rotating Camera feature lets players lock the view between two selected objects to observe relative motion. For example, selecting Jupiter and the Sun in the Solar System reveals how trojan asteroids move relative to Jupiter. Stellar prominences now appear more realistic, with colors based on the star's surface temperature and thinner, more looping visuals.
Update 36.2 includes over 50 fixes and improvements. Players can report issues via the Steam forum, Discord, or in-game through Home > Send Feedback.
